In an effort to communicate our services and serve client’s needs the best we can, please read the following information to help assess whether we are the correct resource for you.
Some reasons to consider whether the FSHC is a good match:
- Medical evaluations: we do not offer medication evaluations – we do not have a psychiatrist on staff – but can help with referrals.
- Frequency: we are unable to see clients more often than every 2-3 weeks, but are happy to help with referrals.
- Length: if a longer-term relationship with a therapist is needed or desired, note that we only do brief work – up to 10 sessions.
- Recent history of psychiatric hospitalizations: generally our support would be to make referrals to clinicians in the community who are more available than we are to clients.
- Available hours: we have appointments available between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
- Already working with a therapist: if you are already seeing a therapist in the community, under most circumstances it is contra-indicated to see different therapists at the same time.
- Suicidality and or self-injurious behaviors: we want to help with a referral for more consistent and on-going support.
For teens over the age of 15 who want to be seen in person, we will assess whether the FSHC is the best resource.
If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to call or email us.
If you would like a referral without waiting for an appointment, please call 650-723-4577 or email helpcenter@lists.stanford.edu
